When God called me to serve in ministry, He also birthed a heart to serve college-aged individuals as one of the avenues in which Masterpiece Ministries [Eph. 2:10] serves. Coupled with my love of education, the result was Masterpiece University, a program I started in 2020 to help prepare, encourage and equip students roughly between the ages of 16 -22. As the third of my parents five children, I had two older siblings who preceded me to college and many other divine connections to provide wisdom and resources before, during and after my undergraduate, graduate and doctoral studies that supplemented my success then and even now. I wanted to be that for others, especially when I saw and felt the need with the teens and young adults that I knew. Masterpiece University began as an online program during the onslaught of the 2020 Pandemic, but now is also available in-person for churches, organizations and parents desiring to support their students.

One of the programs offered through Masterpiece Ministries is the Masterpiece University College Bootcamp, a faith-based college preparedness and life-skills workshop designed to support, encourage and equip students, typically ages 15–23, as they prepare for, attend and complete college. While college readiness is a central focus, the program also serves young adults who may choose alternative paths after high school, providing practical guidance for navigating adulthood through a biblical lens. The Bootcamp consists of engaging, practical presentations covering topics such as study habits, time management, financial stewardship, wellness, career readiness and Christian identity. Throughout every session, Christ remains at the center of the conversation. My desire is to see young men and women not only pursue their goals but finish well—academically, professionally and spiritually.

To accommodate the unique needs of each congregation, the Bootcamp can be presented as a one-day event, a multi-session series, a youth ministry resource or a parent-student seminar. If you believe this program could be a meaningful resource for the students and families of your congregation, I would be honored to explore how it might best serve your ministry and support the spiritual, academic and personal development of the next generation. The inaugural 2020 cohort of students has since progressed into or completed undergraduate and graduate studies in fields such as aeronautical engineering, architecture, medicine and social work, among others—serving as early evidence of the program’s long-term impact and the continued development of young people equipped through this initiative. They stand as living testimonies of what it means to be shaped as God’s workmanship.
